What is Positive Reinforcement?

Positive reinforcement involves rewarding a desirable behavior to increase the likelihood of it happening again. This can be praise, a small reward, or extra privileges.

Tips for Effective Positive Reinforcement

  • Be Specific: Instead of saying "Good job," say "I love how you shared your toys with your brother."
  • Be Timely: Offer the reinforcement immediately after the positive behavior occurs.
  • Focus on Effort: Praise the effort your child put in, rather than just the result.

By focusing on the positive, you can create a more encouraging and supportive environment for your child.
